Yukino Ushimaru has been taking care of my dogs since before she had a thriving business with a staff, various services, and countless clients. About eight years ago, I was lucky enough to see her first sign in the neighborhood, offering dog walking and play while owners where at work. Something about Yukino led me to do what no self-respecting New Yorker would ever do: I gave my building and apartment keys to a total stranger. Since that day, she and her staff have spent so many hours caring for my dogs; first Rose (Shepherd-Pit mix) and now Roxy (Chihuahua-Corgi mix).
Animal Loving Care has always been there for us, for long-term assignments or last minute needs. Rosie had many health problems and Yukino and her staff always provided her with the best care and comfort possible. I always felt she was in as good (or better!) shape when I returned as when I had left. I could truly see that they loved her as much as I did and it made all the difference in Rose’s quality of life. Her outside social life was sometimes better than my own. Roxy continues to get the same excellent care today.

I would say that I am the luckiest dog owner in all of Brooklyn. We have been using Animal Loving Care since September 2005 when we first got Molly. We were referred by several of our neighbors who used their service. From the first day, Yukino and her staff were very professional and caring, and Molly took to them immediately. They are very reliable and trustworthy, and extremely caring of the pets in their care. Yukino has been grooming Molly every 6 weeks or so, and she does an excellent job. Yukino has taken care of Molly on holidays, and while we were on vacation, and Molly is very at home there. On occasion when Molly has had some medical issues, Yukino and staff took very good care of her, and followed our instructions to the letter. From time to time, I take care of my daughter’s dog, Patch, who happens to be Molly’s brother. Yukino’s staff has walked both dogs, and she has groomed Patch as well. Yukino has been walking & grooming our Mini Goldendoodles Bootsy & Boyo since they were puppies. Our dogs are very excited to be walked by her and everyone on the Animal Loving Care Team. When we encounter any of them in the neighborhood, our dogs go wild with joy.
Yukino is the only person we trust to groom Bootsy & Boyo. They always come back from a grooming appointment with Yukino looking gorgeous, smelling wonderful and they are very content. The quality of the cut comes from Yukino’s aesthetic, her time and attention to detail, and the fact that she cuts the fur by hand for the most part, using an electric clipper secondarily.
Our dogs have been photographed for several publications including Real Simple, The New York Observer & Men’s Journal. Yukino has groomed them in preparation and in some cases wrangled them on the set of the photo shoots.
We get numerous compliments on how great out pups look and are constantly asked by strangers for the name of our groomer. They are most commonly referred to as looking like “stuffed animals”.

We’ve been using Yukino for haircuts for our seven pound maltese-poodle mix for over a year and have been thrilled with the results. Yukino is very gentle with our dog and gives great cuts at a very reasonable price. We were referred to Yukino by a friend whose dog was traumatized by another groomer. Yukino has a wonderful way with dogs. Our toy poodle, Maxine, always knows when we are on the way to Yukino, and she practically pulls me down the street until we get to her door. Max cannot get inside fast enough. Always upbeat, polite and accommodating, Yukino also has a keen eye when it comes to grooming, styling and proportion. Maxine always looks great after her grooming. I highly recommend Yukino and her services at Animal Loving Care. My 2 year old Labradoodle, Max, has known Yukino since we brought him home at 12 weeks old and is totally and utterly in love with her. He was a sickly puppy who needed more walks and attention than usual and Yukino made herself available and was very flexible with his needs. She follows instructions and is responsive to individual needs as well as being 100% reliable in her commitments. She continues to walk Max from time to time and is also available in a pinch. She’ll spend as much time with Max as I need her too. She also grooms him regularly.
Max is a 55lb dog who is not easy to manage sometimes. Yukino has a loving, but firm style. She is not afraid to assert herself and get bad behavior under control quickly and she always follows up with praise and attention for good behavior.
I feel completely comfortable leaving Max in her hands and wouldn’t hesitate to leave her in charge of him overnight or during a vacation. She’s completely trustworthy!
